Cats enjoy re-hydrating just as much as humans do! There is nothing better than an ice cold drink of fresh water on a hot summer’s day, so be sure to keep an eye on your cats water bowl. Placing a few ice cubes in the bowl on particularly humid days will be much appreciated! Playing “ice hockey” with your cat can be a fun, playful activity that also provides hydration!
Cats of Different Ages
Much like humans, cats of varying ages and health may need that little bit more attention during the hot summer months. Whether those cats are seniors or juniors, make sure they are well looked after when heat could become detrimental to their health, especially if their health is already at risk from illness.
If you can’t bear to leave your kitten at home and deem it necessary to bring them along for a car ride, be sure to take them out in a carry cage! Cars can heat up incredibly quickly and a cracked window won’t help in the slightest.
It is vitally important to check your cats’ health during and at the end of every day. You should be looking for signs of heatstroke, which is definitely an emergency situation. Signs of heatstroke include:
